About Me.
Pastor Tonyia Benton, a native of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, is the Co-Founder and former First Lady of the International City of Light Ministries in Arlington, Texas. She was married to her best friend, Bishop Antonnio Benton, and they have four children. Tonyia was called into the ministry at the age of 18 and shortly thereafter became a licensed and ordained preacher.
Before moving to Texas in 2016, Tonyia was Professor of English at Pearl River Community College in Poplarville, Mississippi. Prior to her death, she was employed as an English Professor at Tarrant County College in Arlington, Texas. Tonyia was in education for over 23 years and enjoyed teaching and mentoring students of all ages. Tonyia held a Bachelor of Science in Speech Pathology/Audiology from the University of Southern Mississippi, a Master of Arts in English, a Master of Education in Educational Leadership, and a Specialist in Higher Education Administration from William Carey College. Tonyia was also a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.
